Tragedy of August 15 and the Jail Killings

On August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members were assassinated in a military coup.

Months later, on November 3, four key national leaders—Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, M. Mansur Ali, and A.H.M. Qamaruzzaman—were murdered inside Dhaka Central Jail, plunging the party and nation into prolonged political instability.
